The Mayors Parlour is located within the City Hall, a building built in 1819 by a very prosperous merchant, a close friend of Lord Nelson. The Parlour is richly decorated in the Empire Style and includes many Neo classical features. The ceiling appears as being supported by a series of pilasters, the tops of which are decorated in a composite style of Ionic and Corinthian orders of architecture, depicting events in the history of Ancient Rome.
The decorative work also features cherubs and floral motifs of indigenous plants of Gibraltar. The venue is the perfect backdrop for a memorable ceremony.
The room has views over John Mackintosh Square with the Gibraltar Parliament building directly opposite. The City Hall also houses the Mario Finlayson National Art Gallery on the ground floor, which exhibits works by prominent Gibraltarian artists.
We are pleased to offer service for Civil weddings at our beautiful Mayors Parlour at their historic room on the first floor.
